       É Professora Associada na Universidade Aberta no Departamento de Ciências e Tecnologia desde 2004, é Doutorada em Engenharia do Ambiente (Sistemas Ambientais e suas Tensões) na Faculdade de Ciências e Tecnologia da Universidade Nova de Lisboa, Portugal (2004), Mestre em Ciências das Zonas Costeiras pela Universidade de Aveiro, Portugal (1996) e Licenciada em Engenharia do Ambiente pela FCT-UNL (Sistemas Ambientais e suas Tensões), Portugal (1992). Foi coordenadora da Secção de Ciências Aplicadas, Ambiente e Sociedade do DCeT (2016 - 2018) e da licenciatura em Ciências do Ambiente da Universidade Aberta (2010 – 2014) e é atualmente coordenadora institucional do European Virtual Seminar in Sustainable Development e vice-coordenadora do Doutoramento em Sustentabilidade Social e Participação na mesma instituição. As suas áreas de investigação e ensino são os instrumentos de apoio à gestão e avaliação ambiental e da sustentabilidade e a Educação e participação para o Desenvolvimento Sustentável. É investigadora sénior no CENSE - Center for Sustainability and Environmental Research da FCT/UNL e no LEAD - Laboratório de Educação a Distância e e-learning da Universidade Aberta. É editora associada da revista científica internacional Journal of Cleaner Production da Elsevier, pertence ao corpo editorial das revistas internacionais: Ocean and Coastal Management, da Elsevier, BioMed Research International da Hindawi Publishing Corporation e Latin American Journal of Management for Sustainable Development, da Inderscience e revisora de várias revistas científicas e livros internacionais. Orienta vários estudantes de pós-graduação (mestrado, doutoramento e pós-doutoramento), arguente de teses de mestrado e doutoramento e tem diversos artigos publicados em revistas ISI, em capítulo livros e em anais de conferências internacionais e participa ou coordena diversos projetos de investigação e tecnologia.

      Holds an undergraduate degree in Environmental Engineering from New University of Lisbon (1992), a Masters in Science of Coastal Zones from University of Aveiro (1997) and a Doctorate on Environmental Engineering from the New University of Lisbon (2004), Portugal. She is currently Associate Professor in the Department of Science and Technology at Universidade Aberta (UAb) and a senior researcher at CENSE - Center for Sustainability and Environmental Research from New University of Lisbon, Portugal and she also collaborates with the e-learning Laboratory of UAb. Her main research and teaching areas include environmental management and assessment, education for sustainable development and sustainable consumption and e-learning and environmental sciences. She was the former coordinator of the Section of Applied Sciences, Environment and Society of DCeT and of the B.Sc. programme on Environmental Sciences, and she is the institutional coordinator of the European Virtual Seminar in Sustainable Development and vice-coordinator of the PhD in Social Sustainability and Development at UAb. She is associate editor at Journal of Cleaner Production, Elsevier and on the editorial board of the international journals of Ocean and Coastal Management, Elsevier, Latin American Journal of Management for Sustainable Development, Inderscience, and BioMed Research International, Hindawi Publishing Corporation and reviewer of several international scientific journals and books. She has mentored several post-graduate students and postdoctoral researchers, published papers in peer-review ISI journals, chapter books and international conference proceedings, and coordinated and participated in several national and international research projects.
