Degree: Master (Mestrado)

Entry Requirements:


Candidates are required to meet one of the following pre-requisites:
a) A graduation degree or any other legally equivalent certificate in Computer Science, Computer Science Engineering, Computation, Technology and Information Systems, Electronic Computer Engineering or other similar areas.;
b) A BA in Computer Science, Computer Science Engineering, Computation, Technology and Information Systems, Electronic Computer Engineering or other similar areas, obtained in a foreign university as long as the program is organized in accordance with the principles of Bologna and the country has agreed to that process; c) A foreign academic degree in Computer Science, Computer Science Engineering, Computation, Technology and Information Systems, Electronic Computer Engineering or other similar areas, approved by the Scientific Council, as being in accordance with the graduation degree aims;
d) An academic curriculum, scientific or professional, that the Scientific Council has approved stating the capacity of the candidate to follow this study cycle.



Language of Instruction: Portuguese.

Teaching Mode: Open online distance learning through the e-learning platform or, less frequently, by other electronic means of communication, notwithstanding the holding of intensive face-to-face theme seminars, lasting 1 to 3 days, to reinforce knowledge consolidation or even practice evaluation.

Goals:
i) To provide an advanced level of training in Computer Science that is adequate to the demands of specialization in today 's computer science and technology careers within the professional labour market giving a special emphasis to those related to the set up of the inf. and knowledge society;
ii) To provide a robust and adequate training that will allow for the creation of the necessary knowledge foundations to pursue further studies aimed at acquiring a doctorate 's degree in computer science.

Curricular Structure and Credits: The MSc in Web Technologies and Systems is divided in two years. During the first year (2 semesters, corresponding 60 ECTS, with 30 ECTS each) the student will attend several courses. The second year (corresponding 60 ECTS) is reserved for the preparation of an individual research project (dissertation) ending with a final oral discussion.
