Degree: Doctorate (Doutoramento)

Entry Requirements:

a) holders of a master degree (or equivalent qualification) mathematics or computer science;

b) holders of an undergraduate degree (or equivalent qualification) in mathematics or computer science, with a relevant professional or academic and scientific curriculum, that is recognized by the competent organ as evidence of the candidate’s capacity to satisfactorily undertake the doctoral course;

c) on an exceptional basis, holders of an outstanding professional and academic curriculum, that is recognized by the competent organ as evidence of the candidate’s capacity to satisfactorily undertake the doctoral course.



Language of Instruction: Portuguese and English.

Goals / Employment:

 

This course aims at training professionals in computational algebra so that they can enrolle themselves in a research institution and hence improve the scientific production of the Portuguese speaking countries in that area. In addition, as we expect that a large part of our candidates will be teaching at non-superior levels, the holders of this degree will work as ambassadors and promoters of these new techniques and tools in their schools; in their regular lessons, but also in the mathematics clubs that are spread all over the country.
