Course Description:
The subject aims to consolidate the pre-existing knowledge of the Spanish language acquired by the student as well as to help him/her develop his/her communicative skills according to the level A.2 by CFER.The teaching methodology will be focused on the specific difficulties Portuguese speaking students encounter when learning Spanish.


Competences:
Correspondance to A.2 level (waystage or elementary) according to CFER. During this course, the students will acquire the knowledge relative to the level A.2:
Can understand sentences and frequently used expressions related to areas of most immediate relevance (e.g. very basic personal and family information, shopping, local geography, employment). Can communicate in simple and routine tasks requiring a simple and direct exchange of information on familiar and routine matters. Can describe in simple terms aspects of his/her background, immediate environment and matters in areas of immediate need.


Contents:
•Frequency pragmatic, discursive, functional and sociolinguistic resources to produce texts and short dialogues in dealt situations.
•Elementary vocabulary resources in order to interact in everyday situations inside and outside the classroom: personal information; physical and psychological description; family, professional and social relationships; school life; health and body; places; trips and services; spare time; celebrations and leisure.
•Elementary grammar units to form basic sentences: sentence coherence; sentence and its constituents order; noun and adjective genre and number; Indicative mode for regular and auxiliary bverbs; determinants, pronouns and quantifiers; adverbs and prepositions.
•Elementary Spanish ortography and ortoepia.
•Lexical and grammatical contrast between Spanish and Portuguese through the texts and activities worked in the class.
•Frequency adverbs and most frequently used text signals relative to the texts and communicative situations dealt with in the classroom.
•Irregularities in the forming of most frequently used nouns and adjectives; use and form of determinants and quantifiers; simple and compound verbal tense inflection for most frequently used regular and irregular verbs; coordinate and subordinate conjunctions in formal speech; most frequently used temporal and space adverbs; adverbs and prepositions.
•Ortography and ortoepia of the texts used in the classroom.

Assessment:
Continuous assessment is mandatory: 2 digital written documents (e-folios) during the semester (40%) and a presence-based final exam (p-folio) in the end of the semester (60%).
