Course Description:
This module incorporates elements from the humanities and social science. It focuses on the evolution of Europe as a concept, in historical, cultural and political terms, and on European integration through the genesis and evolution of the European project.


By the end of this Course, the student must have acquired the following competencies:
- to be able to reflect on the idea of Europe and its historical evolution from antiquity to the present, and to analyse and discuss the geographic, cultural and other elements of the European identity
- to encounter the models of European cooperation
- to contextualize and understand the geneses and the evolution of the European project
- to be able to identify the theories of European integration (and apply them in today's economic and social realities of our continent)
- to discern the Organization of the Union and its political processes
- to learn and understand the European institutions and be able to interpret their powers and mode of operation
- to demonstrate a good degree of knowledge on the contents of the bibliography.

Continuous assessment is privileged: 2 or 3 digital written documents (e-folios) during the semester (40%) and a presence-based final exam (p-folio) in the end of the semester (60%). In due time, students can alternatively choose to perform one final presence-based exam (100%).
