Course Description:
The course unit aims at improving and consolidating the English language skills. In addition to the emphasis on lexical and grammatical understanding, this also includes the students’ confidence in self-expression and language skills, as well as the development of strategies for self-evaluation and self-improvement.
English I focuses on topics included in the third level of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages ​​(B1), namely those related to family, hobbies and special interests, work, travel and current events, both in the personal context and in the professional context.

• communication of thoughts, feelings, experiences and events.


Contents:
Main vocabulary areas and themes: recreational activities, feelings, the educational system, everyday life, special occasions, holidays and travelling, dreams and ambitions, cities, jobs, lodgings, accidents.
Main grammatical contents: verb tenses, modal verbs, degrees of adjectives, use and omission of the article, determinants, passive voice, reported speech.

Assessment:
Continuous assessment is mandatory: 2 digital written documents (e-folios) during the semester (40%) and a presence-based final exam (p-folio) in the end of the semester (60%).


Comments:
Students are required to obtain the bibliography before the course unit starts; it will be needed since the 1st week of the semester.
