Course Description:
This curricular unit aims to recognize the role and importance of World Wide Web and its main programming languages in the most general context of information and communication systems, in addition to identifying the main techniques, methodologies and tools used in the Web systems development, applying programming techniques to implement web solutions on the side of the aware and server side.


Competences:
At the end of the course it is expected that the student are able to:
Recognize the role and importance of the World Wide Web (WWW) and major Web programming languages
in the wider context of information systems and communications;
Identify key techniques, methodologies and tools used in the development of web information systems;
Apply programming techniques to implement client side and server side web applications.

World-Wide Web and HTML
Style sheets (CSS) and content formatting
Javascript and client side programming
PHP and server side programming

Assessment:
Continuous assessment is privileged: 2 or 3 digital written documents (e-folios) during the semester (40%) and a presence-based final exam (p-folio) in the end of the semester (60%). In due time, students can alternatively choose to perform one final presence-based exam (100%).
